Pros +
- Great location, about 15min walk from the national park. Staff were amazing, very nice people. I missed my first day because I missed my bus in Seoul and they let me stay extra day no charge. Also they have free laundry. Bathroom is nice and clean.
- The location was amazing for going to the national park nearby. Staff were amazing and extremely accommodating, professional, and kind. Gave a lot of information on nearby locations to eat and the different hike/walk routes in the park.
- Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Vegetarian meal options.
Cons -
- Beds are a bit firm. Not very social, not much of a social area.
- The room was a little dark, but since I spent most of my time in the national park, this was not really a problem.
- The inn is dated, but not unpleasant. The bed had plastic protective layer under the sheet that resulted in low breathability and reduced comfort. There are abandoned buildings in the immediate area, but no safety concerns.

The staff are warm and helpful. The location near the park entrance (1 bus stop or 20 minute walk) is very convenient. Food options are limited but present within a bus stop in either direction. There is a good fried chicken place to the east one stop. Two convenience stores within walking distance (the GS25 is larger and a little further).

The room was super spacious with 2 double bed but the most amazing thing about this location ate the owners that really treat you like family! I hiked the summit and the host was very kind to bring me to the entrance by car. I highly recommend this family owned hotel, you will feel at home trust me!
If you manage your expectations, this is a good option for the area. The staff's customer service made up for the patched walls in our room. The provided space heater allowed us to dry our wet clothes overnight after hiking in the rain all day. Breakfast was an extra fee, but at that point in our trip, eggs and toast was a welcome addition to the typical Korean breakfast, which was also served.
The walls in our room could use a makeover. If you're looking for more class and an even closer walking distance to Seoraksan National Park, there is another option.
Located only twenty minutes on foot from the Main entrance of Seoraksan National Park. The breakfast was incredible! The staff was really hospitable and helped with planning my hiking tours through the park. A 7-eleven and some small restaurants are also located close to the hotel. The building is a bit older, but all the Rooms were very tidy.
There are mosquito nets in the bedroom (+AC), but none in the bathroom, which makes ventilation difficult there.
This was a great stay if you are looking for an affordable accommodation that is close to the national park. I stayed in a 4 person shared room and it was great. The room and bathroom were generally clean and the room was spacious enough to lay out any sweaty or wet clothes. The beds were slightly uncomfortable, but it was fine for the few nights I was there. The hosts are so kind! They give you information about the hikes and things to do around the city. I had a very very early morning hike that I had to get to, but unfortunately a taxi could not be arranged for that time. The property owner kindly offered to drive me down to the park entrance which was incredibly kind since I needed to leave at 3:30 AM. I recommend staying here if you are looking to do a couple hikes in Seoraksan.
Mr Won and his wife are fabulous! They were fantastic and amazing hosts! I recommend their accommodation 100%.. so close to the bus stop.. so close to Seoraksan!
Great location, 20 minutes walk or 2 minutes bus ride from the entrance gate to Seoraksan NP. Absolutely amazing owner, very helpful, so nice. Basic but good breakfast.
The hotel's best days are behind it and it could use some refreshing.
Cute property on the park. Has laundry, private or bunk rooms. Serves meals and has amenities for cooking your own
By US Standards more of a hostel than a hotel. Get a private room for a few bucks more.
Amazing location, super helpful hosts. The owners helped me coordinate an early morning taxi for my hike and explained in detail all the different trails. 7 eleven and 2 nice restaurants for dinner a 3 minute walk and the shuttle bus to the park is a 3 minute walk or the entrance is about a 20-30 min walk away. The room was spacious with a good AC and clean bathroom.
The best wasn’t the most comfortable, mattresses / pillows could use an upgrade
The staff was amazing! So helpful, friendly and accommodating. :)
Great place to stay for exploring Seoraksan National Park. Enjoyed the breakfast and there's also the option to purchase dinner which we did a couple of times- good food and good prices. Bus stop for 7 / 7-1 service close by for trips into Sokcho or up the mountain
Nothing really
This is our third visit to The Red House and won’t be our last. The owners are a wonderfully generous family and our children always enjoy playing with theirs. The rooms are comfortable and clean and there are countless little spaces to explore in the hotel like the arcade room, kids play room and library. Only a 20 minute walk, or 3 minute bus ride to the park entrance. There is a 7-11 close by and some nice restaurants. We’ll be back again on our next visit!
Great place to stay, exceptional welcome and tea and dried peach on arrival, very quiet area with a shop and restaurants locally. The national park is a short walk away which is pleasant. There’s a library and games room for the kids which they loved.Would love to come back again, thank you for your hospitality.
Sweet hosts, great location, heated blanket, free coffee
This hostel was only two bus stops away from Seoraksan. Our stay in Sokcho was oriented around spending time in the national park, so the hotel proximity was a major selling point for me. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The room was small and warm and fit all of our needs for the trip.
Excellent customer service. Had good advice what to do/where to go. Delicious breakfast (big selection, Korean and continental). Very pleasant atmosphere. Good place to relax. Thank you.
Convenient location to the park entrance.
Old, old, and old. The area is full of abandoned buildings. Not really a positive feeling. Very sad actually with so many abandoned structures.
